Useful Management Information
- The BreastScreen Queensland (BSQ) program is directed at women with no signs or symptoms of Breast cancer.
- Women aged between 50 and 74 years are recommended to attend for a regular breast screen every two years. Women in their 40s or aged 75 and older are also eligible for a free breast screen. Women includes those born, presenting or identifying as female.
- Women can only attend every two years or at an earlier rescreen time as determined by previous BreastScreen visit.
- Longer appointment times are available for selected clients, as needed, including women with breast implants and women with a physical disability
- Women must have the ability to provide consent and have capacity to make a decision about the procedures provided by this service. If a woman is incapable of giving consent due to a decision- making disability (intellectual disability, dementia, acquired brain injury or psychiatric illness), then another person who has legal authority to consent on the woman’s behalf can provide consent.
- No referral is required for this service however patient recommendations are welcome.
- Electronic forms are available for download here via the BSQ website.
- Hardcopy recommendation pads can be ordered by calling 13 20 50 or emailing BSQ-GoldCoast@health.qld.gov.au
