- An Outpatient Physiotherapy Screening Clinic is available at Gold Coast Health. These children may be streamed for a first review.
- Assure parents the condition is self-limiting symptoms and condition which will resolve with skeletal maturity.
- Modify activities which increase pain, provide quadriceps stretching exercises.
- Treatment of anti-inflammatory response – (rest, ice, pain relief)
- Osgood Schlatter is a traction apophysitis where there is pinpoint tenderness, and inflammation over the tibial tubercle, any deviation may not be Osgood Schlatter and warrant further investigation.

Essential Referral Information
- Clinical history and examination including key points: -
- evolution and duration of symptoms
- treatment prescribed (analgesics, physiotherapy)
- current and past medical history and medications
- X-Ray - used to rule out serious pathology e.g. neoplasm, acute tibial apophyseal fracture and infection
